Dame Maggie Smith, who played Professor McGonagall in the cult wizarding movie franchise Harry Potter, passed away recently at the age of 89. Fans flooded social media with their heartfelt tributes to Maggie Smith.

The clip, shared by BBC News, captures men, women, and children of all ages clapping as they remember Maggie Smith.

The said video was originally shared by Geraint Walker on TikTok, reported The Evening Standard, a UK-based news website. “We as a family are quite big Harry Potter fans and Professor McGonagall as a character means a lot to people, sort of a lovely figure that everyone loves and knows. I think Dame Maggie Smith is a very respected and loved person as an actress and is probably one of the best of this current generation of actresses in the UK, and probably into the future as well,” the report quoted Walker as saying.

With 2.4 million views, the BBC News video is winning hearts and garnered many reactions. A fan commented, “I was there when Alan Rickman passed.
