You don’t like love?: Content creator films proposal on Netherlands tram, wonders why passengers were unfazed

Instagram user @onyisimadagaska, a content creator, captured a memorable moment of a man proposing to his girlfriend on a tram in the Netherlands. However, he was taken aback by the lack of emotional response from fellow passengers.

NetherlandsContent creator Onyisi shared the video on Instagram.

Usually, when public proposals happen, people witnessing it cheer for the couple. In the Netherlands, however, things could be very different. A man, who proposed to his girlfriend on a tram in the Netherlands, got no reaction from fellow passengers.

The video showing the proposal was posted by content creator Onyisi from his handle @onyisimadagaska on Instagram. He posted the video with the caption, “I wish he could have proposed in a more picturesque setting, but what truly matters is the genuine love we share.”

However, seeing the unfazed reaction from the other passengers on the tram, Onyisi went on a mini rant and asked, “You don’t like love?”

He also said, “If this was America, people would shout, ‘Oh my God, congratulations!’ Netherlands people, loosen up! You guys should loosen up. Someone just proposed to his wife, and you people are busy on your phones.”

Many Instagram users chose to side with the passengers. Some suggested it looked like a prank, while others felt it could have been done in a better setting. One user said, “People probably thought it was a prank, bc for real who proposes on a tram?” Another user commented, “They were sad for her…he proposed in public transportation.”

While a third user supported @onyisimadagaska and said, “I love how you cheered for them! It is such a special moment for them,” someone else wrote, “Wow!! The lack of emotion, empathy, life from the passengers is sooooo freaking lame. It makes me embarrassed for them; cringe!”
