Canadian travel vlogger Nolan Saumure is going viral after sharing a tense run-in with a wild elephant on an Indian forest road. The incident captured on video shows the unpredictable nature of wildlife and of those who venture into it. In the clip, Saumure is seen cruising leisurely on his scooter when he suddenly comes face to face with a large elephant on the side of the road. Undeterred, he slows down and casually addresses the animal saying, “Why are you chilling on the road, sir?” The situation quickly escalates when a second scooter rider enters the scene. Upon noticing the elephant, the man freezes a few meters away. That moment of hesitation appears to set off the animal, which charges forward in a flash. The rider spins his scooter around and takes off just in time to avoid a potentially disastrous encounter. “You don’t have to stop,” Saumure can be heard calling out from behind the camera, suggesting that the abrupt pause may have startled the elephant. The shaken rider later said, “No one gave me this instruction,” summing up encounter. The clip, which Saumure captioned, “I almost got my friend ended by an elephant,” has sparked thousands of reactions. Though the video’s exact filming location remains unknown, the scooter’s license plate hints that it could have been shot somewhere in Uttar Pradesh. A user said, “Bro thought..British are back and took matter in his own hands.” Another user commented, “Don't stop, don't panic, don't yell or shout in front of these animals. Just sneak and leave while you can. It's not a zoo. It's their territory.” A third person wrote, “Your friend's lucky to be alive dude. Elephants are very dangerous.” A fourth individual commented, “This could be because the elephant felt instigated by the first rider. Elephants are gentle, but powerful. Show them the respect they deserve. That is for your own safety.” Saumure, originally from rural Ontario, has carved out a niche by sharing raw and unpredictable moments from his travels across Asia. His videos often highlight untamed nature, spontaneous encounters, and the thin line between awe and adrenaline.
