Imagine relaxing in your backyard and suddenly your gaze falls on a huge lizard right in front of you crawling up your wall! This is what happened when 80-year-old Eric Holland was working in his shed in Thurgoona, New South Wales.
When Holland saw a massive 1.5m long goanna scaling up his wall, he went into a shock for a second and after recovering he quickly went inside his house to get a camera and clicked a picture of this reptile.
This one is believed to be a lace monitor, which can grow up to two meters long. But apparently, lace monitor’s are not an uncommon sight. Border Mail reported that The NSW Office of Environment and Heritage said it would not be unusual for a Lace Monitor to be found in the area around Albury.
But for Holland, it was a “big surprise” because he hasn’t seen anything like this in Thurgoona in the past 18 years. “I sometimes get blue tongues and lizards in the backyard but never anything quite like this,” he told the newspaper
