Winning and losing are a part of any game but what also matters is how you behave with your opponent afterwards. In a wonderful sporting gesture, a 10-year-old girl invited her opponent to share the winner’s podium as she was not able to compete in the finals because of an injury.
Good News Movement, popular page on X (formerly known as Twitter), shared the video on Wednesday. The 10-year-old girl won a jiu-jitsu martial arts tournament in Brazil. As the championship belt was placed on her waist, her opponent, who could not compete in the final, looked dejected.
However, just then the winning girl tapped on her opponent’s shoulder and instructed her to come on the winner’s podium. Both of them then posed for photos. The winning girl even gave away her championship belt to her opponent.
“10-year-old tournament champion invites her opponent to share the winner’s podium and then gifts her the Championship belt. The injured opponent was not able to compete in the finals,” says the caption of the video.

“What a fabulous thing to do,” commented an X user. “You don’t need a belt to know you’re the winner,” said another. “Someone is raising a fine young woman,” wrote a third.
In February, a video of a disabled man who earned a stripe on his belt in jiu-jitsu went viral. Alex Mercado was overwhelmed with joy as his trainer gave him the belt. The trainer, Matthew Sangiorge, is seen lauding Mercado in front of his students.
