Top 10 most connected airports in the world 2025: The world is more interconnected than ever, with megahubs acting as vital links between countries. According to Airports Council International (ACI) World, global passenger traffic is expected to reach 17.7 billion between 2024 and 2043. A new report by aviation analytics firm OAG has ranked the most connected airports in the world for 2025, based on the highest ratio of scheduled international connections to the number of destinations served. For the third consecutive year, London Heathrow (LHR) tops the list, offering more than 59,000 potential connections to 226 destinations on its busiest day. At No. 2, Istanbul Airport (IST) made a dramatic leap from 8th last year, powered by a 25 per cent year-on-year rise in potential connections. Frankfurt (FRA) also surged ahead, climbing from 10th to 4th with a 21 per cent increase. In Asia, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) is the highest-ranked, tying with Frankfurt at No. 4, while Tokyo Haneda (HND) dropped from 3rd in 2024 to 9th this year, following a 10 per cent dip in connections. The United States also made gains. Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson (ATL) re-entered the top 10 at No. 8 after boosting connections by 14 per cent and adding eight new destinations. Meanwhile, New York’s JFK Airport, a major US international hub, connects to 208 destinations worldwide, ranking 14th globally-slipping from 6th rank in 2024.
