How to download Instagram reels without any third-party app

Meta recently confirmed that Reels continue to grow across the world, and the company is also making it easy to discover them on Facebook and Instagram. While one can watch and share reels within the platform fairly easily, it is difficult to share them outside these platforms.

While many third-party apps can easily download reels with a single click, they could steal user information and most of them are even filled with ads and offers sub-par user experience. However, there is a trick to downloading reels on Instagram without any third party.

Here is how you can download Instagram reels to your smartphone without any third-party app on Android and iOS devices.

• Open the Instagram app on your smartphone and start playing the reel that you are interested in downloading.
• Now, click on the share icon that looks like a paper plane.
• Now click on add reels to your story
• On the next page, click on the three dots in the top right corner and select save
• Now discard the story
• Now, the reel will be downloaded into the Instagram folder, which can be accessed via the Gallery app
