With billions of users worldwide, Google Chrome is undoubtedly the most popular internet browser on the planet. If your work involves browsing on the internet, chances are high that you already have a bunch of tabs open on your PC.
While you can always bookmark certain pages or add them to your read-later list, sometimes you might have to keep them open. Keeping several tabs open at once will not only clutter your browser but might also make it hard to find the tab you have been looking for. If you are in the same boat as everyone else, here’s how to declutter your browsing experience by grouping tabs in groups.

To add another tab to your newly created tab group, simply drag it to the group and you are done. You can also drag them to remove them from the group. Also, tabs in a group will be highlighted by the colour of the group, which you can customise by right-clicking on the group name.
Once you create a new tab group, you can name it, save the group, delete it, ungroup the tabs or move all the tabs in the group to a new window. If you accidentally closed the tab group, press the down arrow icon on the top left corner of Chrome and you can restore the tab group by simply clicking on the group name under the ‘Recently closed’ section.

Saving a tab group will add the group to the bookmark bar, allowing you to re-open those tabs with a single click. Also, when you save a group, the ‘Delete group’ button will now be replaced by a ‘Hide group’ button, clicking on which will hide the tab group from the tab bar band instead move it to the bookmark bar. If you don’t remember the contents of a tab group added to bookmarks, simply right-click on it to see the list of tabs you have saved.

How to create tab groups on Chrome mobile
The process of adding tabs to a group is a bit complicated on Android and iOS.
1. To create a new tab group, you will first need to head over to the tab overview screen, which can be accessed by tapping the button to the right of the ‘plus’ button on the top bar.
2. Now, tap on the three-dot button on the right and click on the ‘Select tabs’ option.

3. Check the tabs you want to group and once again press the three-dot menu button.
4. Choose the ‘Group tabs’ option and you are good to go.
Alternatively, you can also long press on a tab and drag it on top of another tab to create a tab group, but sometimes it can be hard, especially when you are trying to add multiple tabs to a group. Unlike the desktop version of Chrome, the mobile app does not allow you to save tab groups or hide them, meaning the tab group functionality for mobile is pretty limited right now.
