The Redmi 12 5G starts at Rs 11,999 and will be available across Mi.com, Amazon.com, Mi Home and Mi Studio and authorised retail partners. Meanwhile, Redmi 12 4G starts at Rs 8,999 and will be available across Mi.com, Flipkart.com, Mi Home and Mi Studio, and authorised retail partners.
Redmi also announced an affordable neckband -- SonicBass wireless earphones 2 with 9.2mm large drivers, dual mic ENC, and up to 16 hours of playback time for Rs 1,199.
The 4 GB RAM, 128 GB storage variant of the Redmi 12 4G will retail for a net effective price of Rs 8,999 post bank and exchange offer. The 6 GB and the 128 GB variant costs Rs 10,499.
The Redmi 12 5G will be available in three variants:
The 4GB RAM and 128 GB storage will retail for a net effective price of Rs 10,999 after Rs 1,000 bank offer. Similarly, the 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage will retail for Rs 12,499, and the 8 GB RAM and 256 GB variant of the Redmi 12 5G will cost Rs 14,499.
All variants of the Xiaomi Smart TV X series will offer 30W speakers with support for DTS: X audio. These televisions run on Google TV OS and also offer HDR 10, Dolby Atmos, and MEMC support. It will be available in 43-inch, 50-inch, 55-inch, and also in 65-inch screen sizes. The price starts at Rs 26,999 for the 43-inch model and the 65-inch model of the Xiaomi Smart TV X costs Rs 58,999.
The Redmi Watch 3 Active has been announced. It features Bluetooth voice calling. The watch is 5 ATM water resistant and it comes with over 100 sports modes and can be used with an Android or iOS device using the Mi Fitness app. It has a 1.83-inch display that features a peak brightness of 450 nits for easy outdoor use. It comes with over 200 watch faces and can last up to 12 days on a single charge. The Redmi Watch 3 is priced at Rs 2,999 and will be available for purchase via mi.com and Xiaomi retail starting August 3.
The Redmi 12 4G looks similar to the 5G variant with a 6.79-inch 1080p display. It has the same IP53 rating along with a glass back panel powered by the Mediatek Helio G88 SoC. The smartphone also has a 5,000 mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging via the USB type-C port. Unlike the Redmi 12 5G, the Redmi 12 4G has a triple camera solution with a 50 MP wide-angle lens, a dedicated ultra-wide angle lens, and a macro lens.
The Redmi 12 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC with up to 8 GB RAM and 256 GB of storage. The smartphone has a dual-camera setup with a 50 MP primary sensor and an 8 MP selfie camera. The device runs on Android 13-based MIUI 14 with MIUI launcher. In terms of design, the smartphone has a glass back and is also IP53 rated for water and dust resistance. The 6.79-inch screen offers FHD+ resolution with a 90Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate.
The Xiaomi Redmi 12 5G features a 50MP camera at the back assisted by a 2MP depth sensor. For selfies, you get an 8MP sensor upfront. This is also the first smartphone in the Redmi number series to offer a camera film filter. Xiaomi has brought some of the Xiaomi 13 Pro's portrait mode processing prowess down to the Redmi 12 5G. The phone seems to handle edge detection surprisingly well, at least in the few samples shown off.
The Redmi 12 comes with a "glass design back", which Xiaomi says is the first time to feature on a Redmi smartphone. Xiaomi claims the Redmi 12's glass back offers best-in-class protection against scratches. In a demo video, the phone seemed to hold up perfectly fine against a rigorous scratch test procedure.
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chip under the hood achieves an AnTuTu score of 400,000+, which is rare at this price point. The chip is also the segment's first to be fabricated on the 4nm process.
Xiaomi says that the Redmi 12 5G is making its global debut in India - the phone will be making its way into India first followed by other countries. The smartphone is powered by the segment's first 4nm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC.
Now, the company aims to start a second revolution in internet speeds in the era of 5G, with the launch of affordable 5G smartphones.
