Elon Musk recently took to his social media platform X to announce a new streaming service called X TV. As the name suggests, the new app lets you stream movies and shows from various sources.
In a post on X, SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that the app is now live for Android TVs as well as LG, Amazon Fire TV and Google TV in beta. He also went on to say that the company plans to bring the app to more devices in the future.
While Musk did not share if and when the app will be available to everyone, reports suggest that X TV was available for Amazon Fire TV users in July but LG TVs got it on August 29.
According to the app’s Google Play Store listing, X TV, also known as X-Stream Service TV eliminates the need for a set top box by offering access to a wide range of live channels including movies, music, news, sports and weather.
Rumour has it that some of the key features offered by the app include Replay TV, which lets you replay 72 hours of shows, Startover TV that enables viewers to watch the start of live shows in case they tune in late and Free Cloud DVR, which, as the name suggests, lets you record up to 100 hours of content without incurring additional charges.
X recently shut down its operations in Brazil after Elon Musk defied the Supreme Court’s order on hate speech.
