Sonos, known for its home audio systems, introduced its first headphones – the Sonos Ace. The offering takes on other popular active noise cancellation (ANC) headphones from brands like Apple, Sony, Bose, and more. Priced at $450, Ace will go on sale starting June 5 in select markets such as the US.

“Obsessively crafted and masterfully tuned, these headphones make you feel at one with the sounds that matter most to you,” said Sonos about the new headphones. Available in Black and Soft White colour options, the Sonos Ace claims to offer 30 hours of battery life along with exceptional comfort.

When paired with a Sonos Arc, users can instantly swap the audio from the soundbar to the headphones. Users can fine-tune the audio via the Sonos app, available on both Android and iOS devices. The company ships the device with a carry case along with USB-C to USB-C and a 3.5mm to USB-C cable.

The key features of the Ace include Spatial audio, Lossless audio via a 3.5mm headphone jack and USB-C port, Dolby Atmos, and Dynamic head-tracking support. Similarly, it also has other features like wear detection, ANC, aware mode, and support for fast charging, all of which we come to expect from a headphone of this class.

Sonos Ace is built using plastic, leather, and metal, which according to the company, makes it light yet sturdy with a premium feel. The headphone also has beamforming microphones, which help suppress background noise and enhance voice.

According to Sonos, the Ace comes with a “Bespoke fit,” which includes a stainless steel headband that can smoothly extract, retract, and stay securely in place. It also comes with easy-to-replace ear cups made out of plush memory foam and soft vegan leather that magnetically attach the headphones, similar to Apple AirPods Max.
Unlike most modern headphones, which offer touch controls, the Ace offers physical controls with a Content Key, which can be used to pause/play music, adjust volume, and receive calls. Similarly, there is also a dedicated button to enable/disable ANC.

Ace is compatible with both Android and iOS devices, and it supports seamless switching between devices. Just three minutes of charging charge time can offer three hours of music playback.
