The Galaxy A54 and A34 supersede last year's Galaxy A53 and A33 (Image: Samsung) With the launch of the Galaxy S23 flagships out of the way, the focus has now shifted toward Samsung’s next most premium series. Rumours had earlier suggested that Samsung may be dropping the Galaxy A74 in favour of the Galaxy S23 FE. If that’s indeed true, then the Galaxy A54 may be the priciest offering from the A series this year.
The upcoming phone has already leaked in its entirety – renders, specs, and all. And now, Samsung has officially cleared the mystery surrounding its launch date – the Galaxy A54 is set to launch alongside the Galaxy A34 on March 16 at 12 noon.
The announcement also comes with some vague descriptions of the two devices. Both phones are being made in India and will feature a seamless design with minimal bezels, a “clean camera layout,” and a “premium glass finish.”
The clean camera layout bit refers to Samsung’s apparent effort to homogenise designs across its lineup. Teasers show that the Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A34 have borrowed the same minimalistic camera layout from the Galaxy S23 series. Meanwhile, a glass finish is also a novelty – both Galaxy A53 and Galaxy A33 from last year had plastic backs.

Samsung also says that these Galaxy A smartphones will offer “blur-free and low light photos with Nightography along with No Shake Cam.”
Official information aside, leaked specifications reveal that the Galaxy A54 will be powered by the Exynos 1380 chipset. It will feature a 50MP + 12MP + 5MP setup at the back, assisted by a 32MP front camera up front. The display is sized 6.4 inches with a 120Hz refresh rate.
The more affordable Galaxy A34 is larger, with a 90Hz 6.7-inch display, and is powered by the Dimensity 1080. It has a 48MP + 8MP + 5MP rear camera setup, while the front camera is a 13MP sensor.
Both phones have 5,000mAh batteries, fill up at a 25W rate, and will boot into One UI 5.x based on Android 13 out of the box.
Note that the Galaxy A54 and A34 aren’t the first A series smartphones to launch this year – that honour goes to the budget-oriented Galaxy A14 and Galaxy A23 which were unveiled in January.
