Becoming the latest company to join the foldable smartphone bandwagon, OnePlus Thursday launched the Open at a global event in Mumbai. The OnePlus Open stands apart because it does not reduce the size of the cover screen and offers a large 6.3-inch screen up front and a 7.8-inch tablet screen when unfolded. It also offers a fresh take on how software can be customised for the foldable form factor with Open Canvas letting users split the screen into three different windows.

The phone has five cameras including two front-facing selfie cameras. The rear cameras debut a new LYTIA sensor from Sony with pixel stacked technology. The telephoto camera has 3x optical zoom and can zoom up to 120x digitally. The 4805 mAh battery is among the largest in foldable and can last up to 18 hours on a full charge.

The company is set to unveil the OnePlus Open in Mumbai on October 19, at 7:30 PM. The company has sent out invites for the event with the tagline “Open the next chapter of OnePlus”. You can watch the live stream of the event on OnePlus’ official website or YouTube channel.
The OnePlus Open has been spotted in several leaks and images online, giving us a glimpse of its design and features. The most recent one was from YouTuber Michael Fisher, who visited OnePlus’ headquarters in China and shared a video of his experience with the device. He also posted some photos of the phone on his Twitter account, showing its dual-display setup.
The phone is expected to have a 7.8-inch inner display with 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The outer display is likely to be 6.31 inches with the same refresh rate. The phone is also rumoured to have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, LPDDR5x RAM, UFS 4.0 storage, and a 4,800mAh battery with 67W fast charging support. OnePlus’ signature Alert Slider will also be present on the device, but with some modifications to suit the foldable form factor.
