These older Galaxy devices are getting some of Samsung’s new AI features

The Samsung Galaxy S22 series, Flip 4, Fold 4 and the Tab S8 series will get the same AI features as the S23 FE.

Samsung will be bringing its new AI features to some of its older Galaxy smartphones like the S21 and S22, according to a community post on the company’s website. These phones will start getting the features in early May, however, not all features will be available to users of these older phones.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 series, Flip 4, Fold 4 and the Tab S8 series will get the same AI features as the S23 FE, according to the community note and this should mean they will get all the features apart from the Instant Slow-mo feature left out of the FE series. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S21 series, the Flip 3 and Fold 3 are will get two AI features — Circle to Search and Chat Assist.

The features will arrive in early May, along with the One UI 6.1.

What is Galaxy AI?

Introduced at the Samsung Unpacked event, Galaxy AI is the company’s suite of artificial intelligence features designed to enhance the functionality of its devices. The South Korean smartphone giant had announced that the technology will be integrated across a range of Galaxy devices, including smartphones and tablets like the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold5, Galaxy Z Flip5, and the Galaxy Tab S9 series.

The One UI 6.1 update is the vehicle for this addition, aiming to make advanced AI tools more accessible to users. Features powered by Galaxy AI include real-time translation in multiple languages, AI-assisted photo editing, and personalised AI suggestions for tasks like note-taking and web browsing.

Samsung’s goal with Galaxy AI is to enable over 100 million users by 2024 with mobile AI, enhancing communication, productivity, and creativity through user-friendly AI tools.
