Lenovo’s upcoming handheld gaming console — Legion Go — might come with AR glasses. The device is speculated to run on Windows 11 out of the box and sport a Nintendo Switch-like design with removable joy-con-like controllers.

According to a recent report by WindowsReport citing reliable sources, Lenovo seems to be working on several new products, one of which includes a new pair of AR glasses designed for gaming.

While there is no concrete information about the product, rumour has it that Lenovo might launch them alongside the Legion Go at the IFA 2023. The report also suggests that the AR glasses will be suitable for everyday tasks and might be comfortable for long gaming sessions owing to their small size.

It looks like the glasses will come with a USB-C port at the bottom, meaning it might not pack a built-in battery. For the uninitiated, Lenovo is not exactly a new player in the AR space. Earlier this year at the MWC 2023, the company showcased the ThinkReality A3, a pair of smart AR glasses designed for enterprises based on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR1 platform

As for the handheld gaming device, it will most likely run on AMD’s new Pheonix APUs based on RDNA3 architecture and perform similarly to the Ryzen Z1 and Ryzen Z1 Extreme chipsets. Other specifications include an 8-inch FullHD screen, a USB-C port, a microSD card reader, a 3.5mm headphone jack and stereo speakers.

Recent renders of the device suggest that the Lenovo Legion Go will look similar to the ROG Ally and Steam DEck when the controllers are attached, but when removed, the device might look like a Windows tablet with a kickstand. Compared to Nintendo Switch, it looks like Legion Go will have full-sized triggers and shoulder buttons alongside programmable buttons that offer additional functionality.

It is still unclear how much Lenovo’s upcoming handheld gaming device will cost, but reports suggest the company might price it similar to the recently launched ROG Ally.
