Some iPhones users say the alarm function is a hit or miss. (Express Photo)Setting up alarms on our phones is something most of us are used to. However, many iPhone owners have been complaining in the last few days that their alarms aren’t going off, causing confusion and chaos.
According to a recent report by Android Authority, several users in the iPhone subreddit have reported that alarms on iPhones are currently hit or miss. Some say that their alarms aren’t triggering at all while others say that the phone’s screen lights up but it makes no sound.
Taking a closer look at the user reports, the issue seems to be affecting not just the latest version of iPhones but older models like the iPhone 11 and iPhone XR as well. Some are attributing the issue to the recently released iOS 17.2 update, but others say the bug was affecting them on iOS 17 too.
While Apple is yet to officially acknowledge the issue, users on the subreddit have come up with potential workarounds that seem to be working for some. A bunch of iPhone owners say the alarm bug was fixed after turning off the ‘Attention Aware’ features, which keeps the iPhone screen and dials down the notification volume when you are looking at it.
Others say that disabling iOS 17’s ‘Standby Mode’ did the trick for them. To give you a quick recap, Apple’s Standby Mode for iPhones makes the phone act as a digital clock with glanceable information. Another potential workaround involves disabling some alarms if you have set up many in a short time frame. If none of the aforementioned solutions fix the problem, you can always download third-party alarm apps from the App Store.
