The iOS 18.3 update also features six new wallpapers. (Photo Source: Apple)In December last year, Apple introduced iOS 18.2, which brought several highly anticipated Apple Intelligence features like Image Playground, Visual Intelligence, Gemoji ChatGPT and more. More than a month later, the Cupertino-based tech giant announced that it is now rolling out iOS 18.3 which brings some much-needed improvements to the Apple Intelligence feature suite and fixes several bugs and security vulnerabilities.
One thing to note is that for users who update their device to iOS 18.3, Apple Intelligence will be automatically enabled and you will have to manually disable it. This can be done by heading over to the “Settings” app, navigating to “Apple Intelligence & Siri” and turning off the toggle named “Apple Intelligence”.
The new update brings improvements to Visual Intelligence, which now lets users add an event to their calendar from a poster or flyer, eliminating the need to manually type in the information.
New Black Unity wallpapers
Apple also bundled in new Black Unity wallpapers to celebrate Black History Month. Available with iOS 18.3, the company said the new wallpapers are inspired by the “rhythm of humanity”. In case you are wondering, there are six new wallpapers, all of which have black, green and red colours.
As for Apple Intelligence powered notification summaries, the company said the functionality no longer works for the News app and that it will now show a disclaimer that says “Summaries may contain errors.” However, you can enable AI-powered summaries for the News and Entertainment categories to see them again.
Also, AI-powered notification summaries on the Lock Screen will be italicized, and users now have the option to disable them for certain apps. To do this, swipe left on the notification from the lock screen, click on “Options” and tap on “Turn Off Summaries.”
Apart from improvements to Apple Intelligence features, the iOS 18.3 update also fixes several bugs and issues that affected earlier versions of the operating system. Some of the most notable bug fixes include an issue where the phone may not be able to generate a personalized Gemooji without selecting a different person first and another one where the keyboard would disappear when initiating a typed Siri request.
