How to trade in your old AC for a new one with Flipkart’s exchange program

With the summer season almost upon us, now's probably the best time to get that new AC you've been eyeing.

The growing use of air conditioners in the country is leading to a high generation of scrap, which in turn, leads to the contamination of soil, water, and air. In such a case, it’s important to ensure that not just ACs, but any old electronics, are disposed of in a way that doesn’t harm the environment – or at least reduces the impact. Taking note of this, Flipkart has announced a new exchange program for used air conditioners on its platform.

The offer gives customers an easy way to exchange their used AC at the best price. Applicable to all kinds of air conditioners, customers will be able to exchange their ACs irrespective of where they were purchased using this program. The initiative will be available across Flipkart’s serviceable pin codes in the country.

Exchanging your old AC using the new programme is easy enough. In the most basic sense, you place an order for a new AC, a technician arrives to uninstall your old AC, and the new AC is delivered. But to get started with this, you’ve to follow the steps below.

How to exchange your old AC on Flipkart

1. Search for the AC you wish to purchase and scroll to the section labelled “Exchange your old AC in 30 seconds”
2. Here, you’ll be asked to answer a few questions about your old AC including the type it is (split or window), its capacity, and the brand
3. Once done with the questions, hit the Confirm Exchange button
4. Hit the Buy now button and proceed with the payment
5. A Flipkart technician will visit to take down your old AC
6. The AC will be inspected and if everything looks right, the unit will be taken away
7. The new AC will be delivered

Scrolling through Flipkart’s extensive AC catalogue, we found that the exchange value for old ACs have been mostly capped at either Rs 4,000 or Rs 5,700. Some exchange units can also fetch you an additional discount of Rs 1,000 — so if the exchange value normally amounts to Rs 4,000, that will rise to Rs 5,000 when the discount is included.
