August has been a great month for smartphone enthusiasts worldwide. Samsung unveiled its highly anticipated foldables, and there has also been a plethora of good entry-level and mid-range phones that went official. The smartphone launching spree will continue in September, with brands like Apple, Honor, Samsung, and more likely to announce their latest offerings.
Apple recently confirmed the date for its next big launch event, dubbed “Wonderlust,” where Cupertino is most likely to introduce the next-generation iPhones – the iPhone 15 series. The lineup is reported to consist of four models, with the iPhone 15 Pro Max being the flagship offering.
For the first time, Apple will introduce a USB Type-C port on the iPhone 15 series. Similarly, the baseline iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Plus are also expected to get a new display with Dynamic Island. On top of that, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is said to pack a periscope zoom lens, a first for an iPhone. With the launch date set for September 12, these iPhones are expected to go on sale a week later.
While there is no exact launch date for OnePlus’s first foldable – the OnePlus Open, the company is likely to announce it in September. It is said to be based on the Oppo Find N2. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, the OnePlus Open will be as capable as the Galaxy Z Fold 5.
In terms of specifications, the OnePlus Fold is said to offer a 7.1-inch primary folding screen, a 5.54-inch cover screen, and this is said to be one of the first foldable smartphones to feature a periscope zoom lens.
Honor is making a comeback in India with the launch of the Honor 90. Honor Tech, an Indian subsidiary, has obtained exclusive rights to manufacture and sell Honor smartphones in India. As per the Amazon India listing, the Honor 90 will feature a 1.5K quad-curved display with a peak brightness of 1600 nits.
The smartphone is said to be powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC, and the phone will run on Android 13 with a custom MagicOS 7.1 skin on top. As per the company officials, the phone will ship with a bloatware-free user experience and is entitled to receive two major Android OS upgrades.
Realme hasn’t launched a truly high-end flagship smartphone for a while, and the company might soon break this stereotype with the launch of the Realme GT Neo 6 5G, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Besides the flagship chip, the smartphone is said to feature a 144Hz curved OLED screen and is also said to offer up to 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage.
The Realme GT Neo 6 5G is also touted as the fastest charging phone with support for up to 240W of fast charging. The phone also features a special RGB light at the back that also acts as a notification LED.
Samsung also took a break from its Fan Edition, and the company is expected to announce the new Galaxy S23 FE in September. Based on the Galaxy A54, the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE is likely to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC with 8 GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of internal storage.
The Galaxy S23 FE is also expected to offer typical features that one expects from a Samsung flagship, including wireless and reverse wireless charging, and an IP rating. Similarly, the phone will ship with OneUI 5.1 based on Android 13 and will be upgraded to OneUI 6 in the coming days.
