Computex is finally back to its in-person format after three long years. Taking place in Taipei, Taiwan, Computex 2023 is the event to follow to get all the updates related to the latest PC world and innovations from renowned brands. This year’s Computex goes beyond hardware and will showcase software, services, and, of course, the ever-evolving field of artificial intelligence-powered products and services.

Here is a curation of some of the most interesting announcements from brands like Intel, NVIDIA, Asus, and AMD from Computex 2023, happening from May 30 to June 2.

Intel Meteor Lake processors

Intel showcased its next-generation notebook processors dubbed ‘Meteor Lake’ at Computex 2023, which will go by the name 14th Gen Intel Core processor post the official launch. Back in 2022, Intel showcased a new processor concept called VPU or Versatile Processor Unit and the same technology will be used on the upcoming notebook processors.

Meteor Lake processors will be focused on power efficiency and will boast a modular chip design, consisting of CPU, GPU, and a dedicated low-powered AI accelerator. These processors are said to be fabbed using more power efficient 4nm process and will make use of 3D stacking technology to reduce the processor size. The company has also confirmed that Meteor Lake processors will hit the market by the end of 2023.’

NVIDIA epic keynote at Computex 2023

NVIDIA’s Computex 2023 keynote was mostly about AI. The company’s CEO explained how training a large language AI model on a GPU is more cost-effective, and he also showcased a new technology called NVIDIA ACE, which uses AI can be used to generate dialogues of a non-playing character in a video game.

Besides, the company also announced the Nvidia GH200, dubbed a super chip, consisting of an Arm-based Grace CPU (72 cores) and Hopper H100 tensor-core-based GPU with a whopping 96 GB of HBM3 memory and 576 GB of graphics memory. With over 200 billion transistors, this processor is said to be capable of offering up to 4 PetaFlops TE performance, he also confirmed to Softbank is the first to use this processor in their data centers. Besides, CEO Jensen also showcased another mega chip named Nvidia DGX GH200, which is nothing but two Nvidia GH200 processors linked using NVLink technology.

MSI showcases enterprise solutions and limited edition gaming laptop

MSI is known for its high-performance gaming machine. At Computex 2023, the company showcased its latest non-gaming laptop series — Commercial 14 series and the Prestige 16 Studio Evo with business-oriented features, including a built-in smart card reader, NFC support, and these are said to be tailormade laptops for enterprises. These laptops are powered by the latest 13th Gen Intel processor and select models also offer dedicated NVIDIA graphics cards with Studio Ready drivers.

For gamers, MSI announced the Stealth 16 Mercedes-AMG Motorsport edition featuring a Benz logo on the back with the latest NVIDIA 40 series graphics card. Besides, the company also announced new Z790 Motherboards with support for Wi-Fi 7 and 5GbE networking solution.

Asus showcased graphics cards with proprietary power slot

Asus seems to have found a way to eliminate GPU cable management, and the company showcased a new concept ROG GeForce RTX 4070 GPU with proprietary power, which fully eliminates the power cables along with a compatible motherboard, based on the Z790 TUF Gaming. Right now, there is no information on when these products will make their way to the market. However, given the prototypes are ready, they are likely to go official by the end of this year.

Acer also announces new laptops and computer hardware

Acer announced the world’s first Wi-Fi-compatible laptop — Swift Edge 16 at Computex 2023. This machine comes with an in-built Wi-Fi 7 modem and can deliver up to 5.8Gbps download speeds over a wireless network with a low latency of 2ms. Similarly, the company will also showcase Acer Connect Vero W6m Wi-Fi 6E Mesh Router, Predator Triton 16, and SpatialLabs™ Stereoscopic 3D Solutions at Computex 2023. The company is also likely to showcase some more products on June 1.

Arm announces new Cortex CPU and GPU cores

At Computex 2023, Arm unveiled its latest Cortex CPU and GPU cores, which will be utilised on the next-generation flagship processors from Qualcomm and MediaTek. The company unveiled the flagship Cortex-X4 cores, which are 15% more powerful and 40% more power efficient than the Cortex-X3. Similarly, it also showcased the Immortalis-G720 GPU with similar performance and power efficiency improvements.
