Apple is gearing up for the launch of its next big product — Vision Pro, which was originally showcased at WWDC 2023. According to a report by Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF International Securities, the Vision Pro will be available for purchase in select markets starting in late January or by early February.

Kuo also predicts that Apple might ship around 50,000 units of Vision Pro headsets in 2024, and mass production of the same will begin in January. A similar report by Bloomberg also highlights that the Vision Pro headsets will be manufactured at Apple’s China facility.

Unfortunately, Apple’s Vision Pro will not be available in India at launch. The device will initially go on sale in the US and the company is also said to have designed special experience zones at various Apple Stores located in major areas such as New York and Los Angeles, as suggested by a Bloomberg report.

Priced at $3,500 or approximately Rs 3,00,000, the Vision Pro will be one of the most expensive consumer-centric VR headsets, and it is also one of the most capable ones, powered by the M2 chip, which also powers select MacBooks and the iPad Pro lineup.

Despite the higher cost, Vision Pro is likely to set a new trend in the consumer electronics segment. While brands like Meta have been offering standalone VR headsets for a while, the Vision Pro takes it to the next level with features that are unheard of. However, it is still expected to be a niche product, and according to a report by DigiTimes Asia, Apple is already said to be working on a next-generation Vision Pro, which is said to be cheaper and more capable and is expected to debut by 2025.
