With the deadline for the submission of enumeration forms for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in West Bengal ending on Thursday, the Election Commission will begin the round of claims and objections.

Till 4 pm Thursday, EC sources had said over 58 lakh enumeration forms were not returned, out of which nearly half were believed to be of deceased voters.

An estimated 7.62 crore voters are in West Bengal.

The EC today will likely release the final figures of SIR enumeration forms, and the draft electoral roll will be published on December 16. The claims and objections can be filed from December 16 to January 1, and the final electoral roll will be published on February 14.

WBBSE to distribute class 9 registration certificates

The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) will distribute Class 9 registration certificates for the 2026 academic session to schools on Friday and Saturday. The registration certificates can be collected from the respective camp offices.
