Apple has sent out a media invite for a new product launch event, dubbed “Scary Fast.” The Apple logo morphs into an iconic Macintosh finder icon, indicating the possible announcement of new Macs. The online-only pre-recorded event is scheduled for 5:30 AM IST on October 31 and will be live-streamed on the company’s official website, Apple TV, and social media channels.

According to the latest report by Bloomberg, Apple is expected to announce a refreshed version of the 24-inch iMac, possibly powered by an M2/M3 chip. Similarly, the company is also speculated to announce new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, possibly powered by 3nm M3 Pro and M3 Max chips.

The next-generation Apple Silicon chips are reported to include up to 16 CPU cores and 40 GPU cores, offering better performance and power efficiency compared to the second-generation Apple Silicon. These new chips also make the upcoming MacBook Pros the most powerful laptops that Apple has ever shipped.

The upcoming Macs, despite featuring a new chip, are expected to look similar to their predecessors, with performance and efficiency gains being the key differences. As Apple recently announced a new 15-inch MacBook Air based on the M2 chip, there might not be any new MacBook Air-related announcements. The Mac mini, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro refresh are said to be planned for a later date.

Apple scheduled this event just at the right time, as Qualcomm just announced its M2 competitor, the Snapdragon X Elite, with a 12-core Oryon CPU. This chip claims to outperform the Apple M2 Max while consuming less power.
