For all the classical music aficionados, Apple has some great news. The Cupertino-based tech giant has announced that it will be launching its exclusive music app in the genre – Apple Music Classical on March 28.
The application acquired from music service Primephonic was earlier slated to launch towards the end of 2022. However, now users will be able to enjoy it sooner. The app has appeared on the App Store and users can now pre-order it ahead of its launch.
The new app will come as a standalone release in the App Store and can be accessed with the standard Apple Music subscription. In its official release, the company said that Apple Music Classical makes it easy to find any recording from the world’s largest catalogue of classical music. The catalogue is fully optimised for search and listeners will be able to experience the highest audio quality including spatial audio on their classical favorites.

When it comes to Apple’s spatial audio, the classical genre is said to be the best way to experience the heightened audio experience. In the new app users will be able to try thousands of exclusive albums, curated playlists, biographies insightful, access notable works, etc.
“Apple Music Classical also makes it easy for beginners to get acquainted with the genre thanks to hundreds of Essentials playlists, insightful composer biographies, deep-dive guides for many key works, and intuitive browsing features,” reads the description for the app on App Store.
The application will stream music at up to 192 kHz/24-bit hi-res lossless along with thousands of spatial audio recordings. Apple claims that the app will also offer accurate classical metadata, something that has been a challenge for many music streaming platforms.
Apple acquired Primephonic in August 2021. The Primephonic application was a classical music streaming service that offered an outstanding audio experience with a plethora of artists and tracks.
