Zomato will now allow online food ordering.
Zomato has just updated its app and one of the biggest additions to this new app is the new food online ordering option. It was earlier reported that Zomato would start the service this year and the app update brings just that.
Last week, Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal had tweeted out pictures of iPads being delivered to the Zomato office, which the company will hand-over to restaurants to enable the online ordering service.
Check out his tweet below:

So far from what’ve seen the updated app has new a tab called online ordering. Once you click on that, it will show you the restaurants that have enabled Online Ordering and you can order from them, depending on how close or far they are from your house. Users can also rate a restaurant on the food delivering experience.
The full roll-out of the service is expected to start next week, and Zomato will be charging a commission from restaurants for the online service. It should be noted that Zomato is not handling the actual delivery like say FoodPanda does, it’s only serving as facilitator between the restaurant and the customer.
We’ll have more details on this soon.
