WhatsApp could soon roll out a new stickers search feature for Android. As per a tweet by WABetaInfo, a fan site known for accurate information of upcoming features of WhatsApp, sticker search is currently under development. It also shared screenshots of how the feature will look like. Though the tweet says that stickers search will be available in future, it does not specify a timeline. “WhatsApp is working on a stickers search feature on Android, that will be available in future. It’s under development,” the tweet reads.
WhatsApp stickers were rolled out last month with 12 sticker packs. With the upcoming feature, users will be able to search for individual stickers packs, similar to how search is available for emojis, GIFs etc. The stickers tab will apparently have a lens icon on the bottom left corner, clicking on which will open the search bar. Here, users can search for individual sticker packs.

WhatsApp intends to add more sticker packs in the coming months. The platform is open to third-party, which means developers from around the globe can create stickers for the platform. With support for more stickers, it will certainly be easier to use the feature with a search feature.
WhatsApp stickers quickly gained popularity within days of its launch. In India, where WhatsApp has its largest user base, more and more stickers in regional languages on festivals of Diwali and Kerala Piravi were exchanged. In fact, it is also possible for users to create their own, custom stickers which can be added to WhatsApp and sent to contacts.
