WhatsApp is testing Touch ID and Face ID integration for its iPhone app according to a report by WABetainfo. However, it is being said that the feature is still in its high alpha stages, which means that there is a lot of time till the company releases it for the general public to use. The report further states that the iOS WhatsApp Business app will soon get support for the same.
According to the report, the new feature to enable Touch ID or Face ID authentication will be located under the Privacy settings of the app. When enabled, the app will require the user to rely on Touch ID or Face ID every time they access the app.
If the Touch ID or Face ID fails in authenticating the user, it will ask them to input the passcode for their app to gain access.
The report claims that the Touch ID and Face ID authentication feature is working without any issues in the testing. However, the authentication process does sometimes show a bit of lag in terms of response time, according to the site.
