(Image Source; Xiaomi) With phone manufacturers like Motorola, Oppo, Google and others focusing on foldable phones, interest in the decades-old form factor has seen a huge surge. The latest to join the party is Xiaomi, who recently confirmed the launch of its next-generation foldable – Mix Fold 3.
In response to a question about the company’s latest factory upgrade on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, Xiaomi President Lu Weibing said that the Mix Fold 3 will be launched sometime in August this year. He added that the upcoming foldable will be stronger and thinner compared to its predecessor – Mix Fold 2, which was termed as a strong competitor to Samsung’s latest foldable – Galaxy Fold 4.
Xiaomi launched the Mix Fold 2 in August last year. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset and featured a 120Hz 6.56-inch AMOLED cover screen protected by Gorilla Glass Victus with the inner screen measuring 8.02 inches, which is half an inch more than the South Korean manufacturer’s latest foldable phone.
Some leaks suggest that the upcoming phone will come with a Flex mode and might pack a slightly bigger 4,800mAh battery with 120W charging and 50W wireless charging. On the camera front, it is expected to get a 5x periscope zoom lens. But just like its predecessor, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 might be limited to China.
