Xiaomi has rolled out the MIUI 10 v8.11.8 for some of its phones, which will allow users to install the Google Camera app. This was spotted by GizmoChina, which claims that the current update is limited to China-based ROMs.
With this version of MIUI, Xiaomi phone users can directly install and use third-party camera apps, including Google Camera.
The GizmoChina report states that MIUI 10 v8.11.8 comes with support for HAL3/Camera2API, alongside other APIs expected to be rolled out globally. This appears to have come after user feedback for camera features, as the camera API will help users create modifications outside the device’s native Camera app.
While the China version of MIUI does not come with Google Play Store features or in-built Google apps, as reported by MySmartPrice, the global beta does not allow camera app installations by default.
