Sony will soon unveil its Xperia 2023 lineup, with all eyes set on the Xperia 1 V. According to a tweet by Sony, the upcoming phone will reportedly make use of a new camera sensor. The company has also confirmed that this year’s flagship will be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 chipset, meaning the chipset might find its way into the new phone. Here’s everything you need to know about the Sony Xperia event and what to expect from the same.

When and where can I watch the Sony Xperia event?

Sony will stream the Xperia event on May 11 via the Xperia YouTube channel and will go live at 9:30 PM in India. You can click on the link embedded below to watch the event.

What to expect from the Sony Xperia event

Sony will most likely launch the Xperia 1 V at the event and we might also see the Xperia 10. The phone is expected to sport the same design as its predecessor – the Xperia 1 IV, but pack an upgraded processor and a ‘next-gen camera sensor’.

The phone might sport a 6.5-inch OLED screen which will most likely have a 4K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Some leaked renders of the phone suggest that the device will come with a 3.5mm headphone jack at the top and a USB Type C port at the bottom. The teaser shared by Sony also shows the camera island with the Zeiss logo, which means the Xperia 1 V will come with a lens tuned by Zeiss.

The upcoming phone might pack a whole new CMOS architecture which when compared to the existing CMOS architecture should be able to make use of the entire sensor area for gathering light, thereby doubling its light sensitivity, with Sony claiming the 2-layer CMOS construction doubles the saturation signal level. However, the company is being tight-lipped about the specifications of the new sensor, so it remains to be seen how much of an upgrade it will be.
