Samsung is rolling out an Android 14-based OneUI 6.1 update to more Galaxy S series and Z series smartphones to introduce select Galaxy AI features. While the update is currently being rolled out in phases, it might take a while before it reaches your device.
Devices like the Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and S21 Ultra, along with the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra, have started receiving the OneUI 6.1 update in select markets.
Unlike the Galaxy S24 or the Galaxy S23 series, Samsung has limited the number of AI features on the older generation of its flagship smartphones. The latest software will have features like Google Circle to Search, Chat Assist, Interpreter, Live Translate, Note Assist, Transcript Assist, Browsing Assist, Generative Edit, Edit Suggestion, and AI-Generated Wallpaper on the Galaxy S22 series. However, older devices like the Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy Z Flip3, and the Galaxy Z Fold3 will only have two AI features — Google Circle to Search and Chat Assist.
The update for the Galaxy S22 series is around 3 GB, and along with new features, it also brings the latest security patches to these devices.
Samsung briefly halted the OneUI 6.1 update for the Galaxy S22 series due to a bug, and with the latest build, the same has been rectified. If you own any of these devices, then download the latest version to experience new generative AI features.
Samsung first introduced AI features in February with the launch of the Galaxy S24 series of smartphones, and these features were expanded to the Galaxy S23 series in April. They are now being made available for the 2022 and 2021 series of flagship smartphones with the OneUI 6.1 update.
While the same OneUI 6.1 update is also available for select Galaxy A series, M series, and F series smartphones, the Galaxy AI features are currently limited to the flagship Galaxy S series and the Galaxy Z series of smartphones.
