Samsung today launched the Galaxy S6 edge+ smartphone in India within a week of its global launch in New York. Priced at Rs 57,900, the Galaxy S6 edge+ 32GB version will be available in stores from August 28 in Gold and Silver colours.
“The demand for large screen devices has grown significantly. The new Galaxy S6 edge+ was built keeping this in mind. The Galaxy S6 and S6 edge smartphones combined, are the most popular flagship offerings till now from Samsung. We want to offer a choice to consumers who wish to have a larger dual curved display smartphone,” said Asim Warsi, VP, Marketing, IT & Mobile, Samsung India.

Samsung also informed that like all its smartphones, the Galaxy S6 edge+ will be also manufactured at its facility in Greater Noida. “We will locally manufacture the Galaxy S6 edge+ to cater to the domestic demand,” said Warsi
Both Galaxy S6 and S6 edge+ share similar specifications apart from the display size. While the former offers a 5.1-inch display, the S6 edge+ comes with a bigger 5.7-inch panel. Samsung has introduced little changes on the software front in the bigger S6 like App Edge, Live Broadcast and Side Sync. The edge screen on the S6 Edge+ can now be used to pin five favourite apps along with contacts.
On the hardware front, the Galaxy S6 edge+ offers a 5.7-inch dual curved Quad HD Super AMOLED display at a pixel density of 518ppi. Running on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS, it is powered by an octa-core Exynos 7420 processor with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 32GB internal storage. There is no microSD card slots and is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery.
The Galaxy S6 edge+ houses a 16MP OIS f1.9 rear camera along with a 5MP f1.9 front snapper. Other features include Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB 2.0.and fingerprint scanner. It measures 154.4×75.8×6.9 mm and weighs 153 grams.
