Samsung’s S24 series of smartphones with Galaxy AI goes official. Announced at the Unpacked 2024 on Wednesday, the series consists of three models—Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and the Galaxy S24 Ultra, according to TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung, who stated that it “transforms our connection with the world and ignites the next decade of mobile innovation.”

While the Galaxy S24 Ultra takes all the limelight with its shiny new titanium frame and Corning Gorilla Armor protection, the other two variants, despite looking similar to the previous generation models, have also been updated with new hardware, including the brand new Exynos 2400 SoC.

The Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S24+ look just like their predecessor with a metal frame and a glass sandwich design featuring an identical camera module design. However, this time around, the Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S24+ are available in new colourways named Onyx Black, Marble Gray, Cobalt Violet, and Amber Yellow.

The two major differences between the Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S24+ are the display and battery. The Galaxy S24 has a 6.2-inch display, while the Galaxy S24+ has a much bigger 6.7-inch screen, which is a tad smaller than the 6.8-inch screen on the Galaxy S24 Ultra. All models offer a variable refresh rate technology of 1Hz to 120Hz. On top of that, the Galaxy S24+ also includes a high-resolution QHD+ resolution screen, while the Galaxy S24 continues to offer an FHD+ resolution display.

The Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S24+ are powered by the in-house Exynos 2400, enabling a plethora of AI features such as Live Translate, Interpreter, Chat Assistant, Note Assistant, and more with Android 14-based OneUI 6.1 skin. While the RAM on the Galaxy S24 is limited to 8 GB with 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB storage options, the Galaxy S24+ offers 12 GB RAM with 256 or 512 GB of internal storage.

Just like the Galaxy S24 Ultra, Samsung promises seven years of major OS updates and seven years of security updates, similar to the latest Google Pixel 8 series.

Both smartphones have an identical triple camera setup at the back with a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 50 MP wide-angle lens, and a 10 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom support. On top of that, there is also a 12 MP selfie camera with support for up to 4K video recording.
