Nothing Phone 2a might have the model number A142. (Image Source: Dylan Roussel/Twitter)Earlier this month, the Carl Pei-led Nothing updated its bio page on X (formerly Twitter) hinting that they were gearing up to launch something new. While many anticipated that the new product would be a new mid-range smartphone Nothing Phone (2a), the company unveiled an IBM-inspired transparent lab coat.
However, more details about the Nothing Phone (2a) have emerged since then. A recent post by a user who goes by the name Dylan Roussel shared a video of what looks like Nothing’s upcoming phone.
Meet the Nothing Phone (2a)!
Model: A142.
Codenames: Pacman / Aero(dactyl?).Nothing’s next phone comes with a Mediatek SoC for the first time. The Mediatek Dimensity 7200. It has 3 Glyph parts, and a brand new design.

He went on to say that the phone will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset and have a redesigned Glyph interface. The video shows that the new phone will have a horizontal camera island, which is different from the Nothing Phone (1) and Phone (2)’s vertical camera setup.
The post also corroborates previous leaks, which suggested that the upcoming mid-range device will have a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with mode number A142.
Taking a close look at the video, we can see that the Nothing Phone (2a) might have a toned-down Glyph interface with three LED strips around the cameras but the phone might miss out on wireless charging, which has been a staple feature on Nothing phones.
The company is also expected to launch the Nothing Phone (2a) in India soon, with the phone recently spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standards certification website and the company is expected to share some information about the upcoming phone at the MWC 2024.
Nothing’s upcoming device might also replace last year’s Phone (1), which remains unavailable for purchase on Flipkart at the time of writing. But since “nothing” is official at the moment, we suggest you take this information with a huge grain of salt, as things may change in the coming days.
