MWC 2024: Top 5 smartphones that caught our attention

Here are some of the best smartphones that were announced at the Mobile World Congress 2024.

The 2024 edition of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona is coming to an end. We witnessed some of the coolest tech products, especially smartphones. While some brands showcased upcoming products and prototypes such as bendable smartphones and transparent laptops, several brands also introduced their latest smartphones at the event.

Here are the top five smartphones that were launched at MWC 2024 that caught our attention:

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra could easily end up being one of the best camera smartphones of 2024. It has cutting-edge hardware and software tuning by Leica, and the company even sells a camera grip, which transforms it into a digital camera by offering a physical shutter button. The camera grip also comes with its own battery. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is as powerful as any other flagship Android smartphone of 2024, and the device offers 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage and costs €1499 or Rs 1,34,818.

Human Mobile Devices announced its latest smartphone — HMD Fusion, a smartphone built around the concept of modularity. While the exact specifications of the Fusion are not out yet. According to the company, the Fusion comes with built-in hardware connectors that enable users to attach accessories or “smart outfits.”  The company is even opening up the API and development kit to encourage users to design and develop their own accessories to use with the HMD Fusion.

Honor Magic 6 Pro

The Honor Magic 6 Pro is a flagship smartphone, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This device stands out for two major reasons — 3D eye tracking, and this is also one of the first smartphones that can natively run a large language model. It also has a high-end camera setup with a 50 MP primary sensor, a 180 MP telephoto lens, and a 50 MP ultra-wide angle lens. The display also has a dynamic-island-like cutout (magic pill) to make space for the 3D eye-tracking hardware. In Europe, the Honor Magic 6 Pro is priced at €1,299 or approx Rs 1,16,838.

The Nubia Flip 5G changes the fact that foldable smartphones are expensive, priced at $599 or approx Rs 50,000, this is currently one of the most affordable flip-style folding smartphones in the world. Powered by the mid-tier Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC, the device looks similar to the TECNO Phantom V Flip 5G, which was launched in 2023. It has a 6.9-inch primary foldable display and a secondary 1.43-inch cover display.

This phone is for those who don’t like charging their phone on an everyday basis. The Energizer Hard Case P28K is a budget smartphone, priced at €249.99 or approx Rs 25,000 with a whopping 28,000 mAh battery, which also makes it a heavy device that weighs 570 grams. According to the company, a single charge can make the phone last for up to 94 days in standby mode or offer 122 hours of talk time. The device offers a decent 6.78-inch screen, MediaTek MT6789 processor paired with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage.
