Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is here. Redmond launched its first Surface device in 2012 as a showcase device for Windows 8. With Windows 8, many OEMs struggled to make competent device platform and Microsoft chipped in with its own reference design.

Microsoft’s Surface range of devices have been the most productive form of Windows device available in the market. Microsoft conceived Surface as a tablet that transformed into a full fledged laptop in seconds. While Lenovo went in favour of transforming hinge, Microsoft chose to use a snap-on keyboard idea.

With Surface Pro 4, Microsoft has almost perfected its idea of a convertible device. At Microsoft’s Future Unleashed event, the company CEO Satya Nadella announced its plans to launch the device in India.

Its worth noting that Surface in its fourth generation now will make its presence in India. The Surface Pro 4 features a 12.3-inch display with a pixel density of 267ppi and an aspect ratio of 3:2. The Surface Pro 4 is 8.45mm thick and can be configured with up to 16GB RAM and up to 1TB solid state storage.

Under the hood, the Surface Pro 4 can be configured with Intel’s sixth generation Core M, Core i5 or Core i7 processors. For productivity, Microsoft Pro 4 comes with Office suite trial and even has TPM chip for encryption.

What sets Surface Pro 4 apart this time around is its Type Cover keyboard. Microsoft’s Type Cover for Surface Pro 4 has a far more spaced out keys making the key travel even more optimum than before. It also has a larger trackpad for various Windows 10 gestures. Plus Surface Pro 4 Type Cover is backlit which will allow lot of business users to type on this device even when the lights are out.

Is it a laptop or a tablet? So Surface Pro 4 calls itself the most productive tablet around and yes it is true but the lack of tablet optimised apps in Windows Store is definitely a concern.

Microsoft Surface Pro 4 should be seen as ultimate portable laptop that can do tablet things and can set you apart from that iPad weilding crowd.
