Apple classifies its iPhones into two different categories – a pro and a non-pro iPhone. Within the Pro series, there are two variants, and the one with the Max moniker is the flagbearer for Apple and offers the best possible iPhone experience, albeit at a slightly higher price.

Apple will host its iPhone 16 series “Glow it” launch event on September 9.

With the launch event just around the corner, here is everything we know so far about Apple’s upcoming flagship smartphone – iPhone 16 Pro Max.

  1. 01

iPhone 16 Pro Max will be the biggest iPhone ever, period

Apple is going all-in for the iPhone 16 Pro series this year, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max will reportedly include a massive 6.9-inch screen compared to the 6.7-inch on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. It is expected to use an improved OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diodes) panel with LTPO (Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide) technology with support for variable refresh rates. Despite its bigger screen, it is said to be slightly bigger than its predecessor, as the bezels on the iPhone 16 Pro Max are reportedly the thinnest on any iPhone to date.

  2. 02

    A new A18 Pro chip

While the entire lineup of iPhone 16 is said to be powered by an A18 chip, the iPhone 16 Pro Max, along with the iPhone 16 Pro, is likely to use a speed-binned A18 Pro chip, possibly with an enhanced CPU (Central Processing Unit) and a GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) with a few extra cores with additional performance.

  3. 03

    New colour options

The iPhone 16 Pro Max, just like its predecessor, will continue to feature a glass-metal sandwich design, featuring a frame made out of titanium. Compared to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is said to have a glossy frame and is expected to be available in new colour options, including natural titanium or rose gold.

  4. 04

    New and improved cameras

While the camera island on the iPhone 16 Pro Max might look similar to the last few generations of Pro iPhones, the upcoming iPhone is said to pack some impressive camera upgrades, including a main 48 MP wide-angle lens, a new 48 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 12 MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom.

  5. 05

Bigger action button, new capture button

The iPhone 16 Pro Max gets a new and improved action button. Functionally, it will be similar to its predecessor. With its slightly bigger form factor, it will be much easier to access. Besides, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is also said to gain a new capture button to make it easy for users to capture photos and videos using a dedicated button, similar to good-old Nokia Lumia and Sony Xperia smartphones.

  6. 06

    More storage onboard

Just like its predecessor, the iPhone 16 Pro Max will start at 256 GB of storage and is expected to go up to 2 TB of storage, as reported on Naver.

  7. 07

Biggest battery ever featured on an iPhone

The iPhone 16 Pro Max with its big display could also include a massive battery. According to a report by leaker Baby Baby Sauce on Weibo, the iPhone 16 Pro Max will have a 4,676 mAh battery, which is 5 per cent bigger than the one on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

  8. 08

    Improved networking capabilities

Thanks to a new network modem by Qualcomm, the iPhone 16 Pro Max will be one of the first iPhones to support Wi-Fi 7 network, possibly along with Bluetooth 5.4. Besides, it is also expected to offer improved 5G networking capabilities with enhanced download and upload speeds.

  9. 09

    Exclusive software features

As Apple Intelligence is currently limited to the iPhone 15 Pro series, Cupertino is likely to introduce new AI capabilities that are expected to remain exclusive to the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
