Google Pixel smartphones are set to launch on October 4. Now, a Nest commercial aired in Netherlands might have given away first look of the device. In the commercial posted by Android Police on YouTube, a woman is seen holding the Pixel smartphone in aluminium colour variant. The leaked image hints at use of metal and glass on the rear and standard white face in the front. Google’s Pixel is seen to have prominent aluminium edges. The bottom section of the rear is aluminium as well. And the rest of it has white glass panel.
Nest commercial started a debate on Reddit, with users discussing if the device has a modular design. “What is that on the back of the device? Is pixel going modular?” said one of the users who goes by the name robisoc. Another user – chepi888 – wrote, No, but the texture from the top half to the bottom half is different. My speculation is something like glossy on top, matte on bottom (for the XL).”
Reports suggest the phones will run Android 7.1 Nougat OS. According to leaks, Marlin is the flagship smartphone of the two devices with a 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED display. It will run Snapdragon 821 processor along with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage space. Google’s Pixel smartphone will have a 5-inch display and Snapdragon 820 processor with Adreno 530 chipset. It will come with 4GB RAM and 32GB internal memory. GFXBenchmark’s report reveals the Sailfish will feature an 11MP rear camera. The primary camera will support 4K video recording. The front camera is said to be 7MP.
Google is reportedly planning to announce a 4K Chromecast, and the Google Home speaker as well. Google Home Speaker was first showcased at the company’s annual I/O conference. Google is expected to launch a new Pixel launcher for the Pixel devices as well. In the new Pixel launcher, the search bar is now a Google button just like the one seen on their Gboard app on iOS. Clicking on the G icon reveals the search bar.
