It’s been a while since Apple announced any new iPad, and this will change soon as the company might announce the next-generation iPads on March 26. As per the leaks, the company is likely to introduce the next-generation iPad Pro lineup along with the 6th Gen iPad Air on March 26, which are expected to go on sale at a later date.
Multiple sources, including Instant Digital and IT Home, are speculating that the new iPads will drop this week. Indicators like the sale date of iPad accessories on platforms like Amazon also corroborate the same, and this is also in line with Bloomberg’s earlier prediction, which stated Apple will launch new iPads by the end of March or by early April. Another report from Bloomberg also claims that these iPads might ship with iPadOS 17.4, which is said to still be under development.
The upcoming iPad Pro series is speculated to receive a significant hardware upgrade, and this is said to be the first iPad from the company to feature an OLED display, possibly to deliver higher brightness, better colour accuracy, and a higher contrast ratio. On top of that, the iPad Pro is expected to be powered by the new M3 processor, the chip that also powers the recently announced MacBook Air.
The 6th Gen iPad Air, on the other hand, is speculated to get a micro-LED display from the previous generation iPad Pro and is likely to be powered by the Apple Silicon M2. Just like the 10th Gen iPad, the 6th Gen iPad is said to offer a web camera in landscape orientation for a better video calling experience, and just like the iPad Pro, the new iPad Air might also introduce a 12.9-inch model, catering to those who need the biggest iPad but not the flagship hardware.
To go with these iPads, Apple will also announce accessories such as the new Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro, which is likely to feature a larger trackpad and an improved keyboard that offers a MacBook-like typing experience. On top of that, Apple could finally unveil the Apple Pencil 3, which is likely to be compatible with the new iPad Air and iPad Pro lineup.
With the upgraded hardware, the upcoming iPad models are expected to receive a price bump compared to their predecessors, and the top-of-the-line iPad Pro could easily end up as the most expensive iPad that Apple has ever launched.
