Rockstar Games, the studio that brought us the likes of Grand Theft Auto has finally launched the much-anticipated Red Dead Redemption on PC. Launched in 2010 on PlayStation and Xbox, PC players can finally enjoy the prequel on their Windows machines.
Set in the Wild West, Red Dead Redemption puts you in the shoes of John Marston, a former outlaw who is travelling across the American West and Mexico to capture the remaining members of the notorious Van der Linde Gang in order to save his family.
The PC version of Red Dead Redemption has the same visuals as the original game, but it comes the Undead Nightmare DLC, which is touted by many gamers as one of the best story expansions of all time. But since it’s just a port, there are no high-resolution textures or ray-traced reflections. Abd while Red Dead Redemption may be one of the best games of all time, it still shows its age when compared to the latest titles.
Rockstar Games also added support for native 4K resolution, refresh rate up to 144Hz, ultrawide monitor support, HDR10 and upscaling technologies like AMD FSR and NVIDIA DLSS. The developers have also utilised NVIDIA’s DLSS Frame Generation technology, which lets you add extra frames for smoother gameplay.
The system requirements required to run Red Dead Redemption on PC are pretty low. While Steam recommends a minimum of Intel Core i5-4760 or AMD FX-9590 paired with either NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 or AMD Radeon R7 360 or newer GPU. However, if you want to enjoy the game at high settings, be sure you have an Intel Core i5-8500 or AMD Ryzen 5 3500X or newer CPU and NVIDIA RTX 2070 or AMD RX 5700XT GPU.
Red Dead Redemption can be purchased from Steam for Rs 3,799, but if you are looking to buy the sequel as well, the Red Dead Redemption and the Red Dead Redemption 2 Bundle is available for Rs 7,918.
