Lego 2K Drive might be one of the most enjoyable racing games of the year. (Image Source: IGN/YouTube) Developed by the same gaming studio that brought us the likes of WWE 2K fame and NBA 2K, Lego 2K Drive is an upcoming racing game. Since it is a Lego title, the game focuses on arcade racing mechanics above realism and authenticity and might turn out to be one of the best racing games to come out this year. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming title.
Set in a fictional place called Bricklandia, Lego 2K will offer a semi-open world experience. It is divided into 5 biomes that include desert, lush fields, waterways and others. While players can transverse from one point to another in the same biome using fast travel, they won’t be able to drive from one biome to another.
Lego 2K Drive will have several game modes to choose from. Players will be able to jump into single races, participate in Cup series tournaments or enjoy the story mode the title offers. However, the main attraction is the story mode. Set in Bricklandia, players have to win multiple races and beat rivals to win the Sky Trophy to take on Shadow Z.
And for those wondering, there are several multiplayer modes to choose from. Players can participate in competitive matches in six-player races, choose to play co-op with friends or enjoy the game in split-screen mode.
Even though Lego 2K Drive might seem like a racing game at first sight, the title is more than that. Races will cover various terrains and racers will be able to drive on both land and water. The game has a plethora of cars and boats to choose from and the transition from land to water is seamless like how Ubisoft did with its popular racing title Crew 2.
Destructible environment has been one of the main features of several Lego games in the past, and it looks like the trend will continue when it comes to Lego 2K Drive. Gamers will be able to break all sorts of things with their vehicles and cause chaos.
If and when you get tired of exploring the open world, you can indulge in the mini-games spread apart in the biomes. The game will also offer optional content with the developers planning to bring several hours of additional content in the future.
Lego 2K Drive is a unique racing title in the sense that instead of featuring a traditional roster of vehicles, the game focuses more on customization. It has a garage system where players can use their creativity and make cars however they want using Lego bricks. However, not all customization options will be available right away.
If you are lazy or just want to drive vehicles, Lego 2K Drive has some vehicles you can take to the roads without doing anything.
Lego 2K Drive will be available on all popular platforms like PC, Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation and PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. Unfortunately, Lego 2K Drive players on Nintendo Switch won’t be able to play with their console or PC counterparts.
Lego 2K Drive is all set to launch on May 19 and is available on Steam for Rs 3,399. If you want to pre-order the Awesome Edition and the Awesome Rivals Edition, they can be purchased for Rs 5,699 and Rs 6,799 respectively. On Nintendo Switch, it will cost somewhere around Rs 5,000, but the price of the Switch version might change down the line when the game has been officially launched.
