Indus, the homegrown battle royale mobile game that has been in the works since last year, is gearing up for its first official esports tournament on October 28.

The event, called the ‘Indus Esports Invitational,’ will feature some of the top teams in the country, such as Orangutan, Godlike Esports, Team 8bit, Global Esports, Enigma Gaming, and Reckoning Esports. They will compete for a share of the Rs 10,00,000 prize pool, with the winners taking home half of that amount. The runner-ups, third-place, and fourth-place will get Rs 2,50,000, Rs 1,00,000, and Rs 50,000, respectively. The MVP will also bag Rs 1,00,000.

The tournament will showcase the latest version of Indus, which includes Virlok, the island map inspired by Indian culture and nature, with a futuristic twist. The game has also undergone improvements in controls, design balances, and visual enhancements, according to SuperGaming, the Pune-based developer behind Indus.

The Indus Esports Invitational is a sign that the game is nearing its launch date. SuperGaming previously announced that it aims to release the game by the festive season of 2023. The game has already generated a lot of hype among Indian gamers, with over 7 million pre-registrations on Google Play.

If you want to watch the tournament live, you can join the Indus Discord server, where it will be streamed. However, you might want to hurry up as the slots are limited and are based on a first come first serve basis.

If you want to try out the game yourself, you can sign up for the closed beta on Google Play. You will then have to wait for key drops that will be given out on the Indus Discord server, so make sure you join it.
