The LG Tone Infinim is different. It won’t take you more than a glance to figure that out. While this is a headphone, you wear it around the neck. It might make you look like someone out of the next Star Wars movie, but this is innovation that works. Here is why:
Design
Performance
The Tone Infinim is slightly gimmicky, that is a good reason for most manufacturers to compromise on the core performance, in this case, the music. And that is exactly what LG has not done. This is really good headset when it comes to sheer audio quality. The Harman Kardon Signature Sound that drives this gadget guarantees premium audio quality.
Listen to any kind of music and you will you realise that the earphone has perfect acoustics that keeps the music on the top of your mind and not the intricacies of the gadget around your neck. Plus, the fact that you can control your music from the device itself, without reaching out for your phone, is a great advantage for those who will use this while jogging or during walks. The device comes with a good number of voice prompts, like telling you the battery status when you are switching on for the first time.
The call quality is also very good, even though the neck band which houses the microphone is not really close to your mouth. However, the vibrating call alert can be a bit of irritating as this is happening around your neck.
The other good thing is the battery, which lasts over a week with regular use. In fact in the ten days I had the review device, I did not charge it even once. The standby is also good, even when you forget to switch off the headset.
Verdict
Though a bit expensive at Rs 10,990, the LG Tone Infinim is a really innovative, but practical headset for those on the move. It is a new form factor and hence will get some time to get used to, but that is a minor irritant when you weigh it against the overall convenience the device brings to your neck.
