Boat Pitcher Express Review: Good audio, bad build quality

If you are looking for a decent Bluetooth speaker that offers good music and call quality then Boat Pitcher is certainly worth considering.

Boat, Boat Pitcher, Boat Pitcher BT speaker review If you are looking for a decent Bluetooth speaker that offers good music and call quality then Boat Pitcher is certainly worth considering.

With so many Bluetooth speaker proliferating the market, some companies are trying quirky design to stay different and get some eyeballs. But if the company itself is called Boat then a speaker that looks like a pitcher should not be a big deal.

Price: Rs 3,250

Boat Pitcher

Well, the Pitcher looks like a pitcher, the kind you will get if you order and extra large serving of beer. The design is funky and colours loud. The review unit I got was a fluorescent green that thankfully did not glow at night. The power button is at the bottom and the device goes into pairing mode as soon as you switch it on. There is an LED light in front which indicates that the device is pairing or paired and also houses the microphone. But I kept thinking of it as the power button, it looks too much like one.

What is good?

The audio quality is very good. The Pitcher can be loud without the music crackling and that is an achievement for any Bluetooth speaker that is priced in the range. There are no audio adjustments except for volume and it is pretty much plug-n-play, which will be good for most users. It works well with most kinds of music and there is hardly any reason to complain.
I also made a couple of conference calls using the device and it was good experience on both sides as the microphone and speaker both did their job well, offering clear audio.
The battery life is also good and last almost three hours on a full charge.

What is bad?

The build quality leaves a lot to be desired. In fact, I tried to hold the Pitcher by what looks like the handle and it came apart revealing the wiring inside. It went back as easily as it came out, but this has to be a first for any device I have reviewed.

Should you buy?

If you are looking for decent Bluetooths speaker that offers good music and call quality then this is  certainly worth considering. You will however need to handle it with care or use superglue to keep the loose bits in place. Given the build quality, this Pitcher might seem a bit overpriced at the moment.
