Apple was supposed to bring its new AirPods to the market by December, but it has now delayed the release again. The wireless AirPods won’t be available this month, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal, which says Apple has delayed these citing manufacturing issues.

The report further said the AirPods are facing Bluetooth connectivity problems, which is a possible cause for the delayed launch. Apple’s AirPods utilise Bluetooth technology in order to sync with the device like the iPhone or the iPad.  An Apple spokesperson also confirmed to WSJ, the company doesn’t think the AirPods are ready, and will need more time to bring the product to the market.

Generally, most wireless headphones receive one signal from the paired device via Bluetooth, which is transmitted to both earbuds, notes the report. But in case of the AirPods each earpiece receives its own signal from the device like the iPhone or Mac or iPad. Apple needs to ensure the audio syncs for both at the same time, which is not happening.

According to the WSJ, AirPods not getting the signal at the same causes a distortion. It also looks like Apple is trying to figure out what happens when someone loses one of their AirPods. This issue was highlighted even when the wireless headphones were first announced. In fact, people were already joking how they would lose the AirPods easily.

Apple’s AirPods work on a proprietary chipset. These wireless buds have a new ultra-low power W1 chip that Apple says will deliver high-quality sound and great battery life. When Apple announced the AirPods alongside the new iPhones, the company said it would be made available in October. But later that month, Apple confirmed the AirPods were delayed.

An earlier report in Taiwan-based Economic Daily News said that a supplier expected to begin “shipping AirPods in January 2017.” For Apple, the AirPods delay comes at a time when sales of the iPhones are expected to fall further in 2017. AirPods were priced at Rs 15,400 in India, but it looks like the wait for these will continue.
