Alex Roca Campillo is the name that has entered the history books as he is the ‘first person in the world with a 76% disability who has managed to finish a marathon of 42.195km’ on Sunday.

According to Spanish media reports, Alex, 32, has had cerebral palsy since a young age and over the weekend, he won the Barcelona marathon.

On his social networks, he shared the joy he felt when history passed as an athlete who has exceeded limits and is a reference for everyone in any field of life. On Twitter, he wrote,” “I HAVE MADE HISTORY!

“First person in the WORLD with a 76% disability who has managed to finish a MARATHON: 42.195km.

“This has been possible thanks to ALL my team. Thanks to ALL of you who have been cheering, I HAVE NO WORDS.”

Alex crossed the finish line in Barcelona, ​​achieving a mark of 5:50:51, something unusual considering his conditions.

The athlete suffers from cerebral palsy due to encephalitis when he was six months old. In addition, the difficulty of this feat is greater considering that the left part of his body is immobile and he underwent several operations on the tendons of his foot.

Alex had previously completed five triathlons, one aquatlon, five half marathons (Barcelona 2019, 2022 and 2023, Granollers 2023, New York and Miami 2022), the Titan Desert in 2019 and the Pilgrim Race in 2018.
