Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni welcomed his possible successor Ben Stokes in style ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 opener against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. Dhoni welcomed all the newcomers to the Chennai team and said: "I would like to welcome all the new players." While welcoming the England all-rounder, he said: "You are not new but new for us." Chennai Super Kings roped in Ben Stokes for Rs 16.25 crores and the all-rounder might took over the reign from MS Dhoni. After the IPL mini auction team franchise CEO Kasi Viswanathan has said that MS Dhoni was delighted to have Ben Stokes in CSK. “Very excited to get Stokes and we were lucky also because he came up at the end. We wanted an allrounder and MS was very happy that we got Stokes,” Kasi Viswanathan had said after the auction. “Captaincy option is there but it’s a call MS will take with time," he had said.
