Delhi Capitals have beaten the Punjab Kings by 6 wickets in the match 66 of the Indian Premier League 2025 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday. Coming into the contest, Punjab Kings would have wanted to further solidify their claim for the top two spot; however, like Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans, Punjab too has fumbled when they have been presented with the opportunity.
When Delhi skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and opted to bowl first, Punjab did manage to put on a decent score with 201/6 from their quota of 20 overs, with Shreyas Iyer leading the way with a 34-ball 53. Marcus Stoinis’ blistering 16-ball 44 at the end made the difference between a mediocre total and what Punjab eventually got. Mustafizur Rahman, who has come into the side in place of Mitchell Starc, has picked up three wickets.
With their bowling attack, Punjab Kings did look sorted, and they did manage to create a few early inroads as well. However, it was the partnership between Karun Nair and Sameer Rizvi that tilted the game. Rizvi, with his 25-ball 58, has shown the promised potential in him in the chase. Harpreet Brar did shine with two wickets, but it was not enough.
