Mumbai Indians head coach Mark Boucher blamed the "batting collapse" after the powerplay for their seven-wicket loss against MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium. "We got up to a good start in the powerplay. We just had a batting collapse. I think a couple of unlucky dismissals, some good catches and after that we couldn't really build any partnership, which probably cost us about 30-40 runs in the backend," he told the reporters. "It was pretty similar to the first game, just in different phases of the innings. I thought we fought well till the end with the ball. I just don't think we had enough runs to put in any scoreboard pressure on CSK," said Boucher. His scores from then on across formats have run thus: 24, 8, 0, 0, 0, 15, and 1. The three ducks against Australia were much fretted on and it was hoped that IPL can kickstart his turnaround. It’s yet to happen. Boucher is hopeful that Surya will find his grove soon and doesn't want to put unnecessary pressure on the batter. "Surya is an extremely talented cricketer and one of the world's best T20 players if not the best. He hasn't scored runs of late, but he is a fantastic player and hopefully, he can come to some good forms for us in the near future," he said. We all know what he can do, that's just the game of cricket. Sometimes you go through the little patch where you struggle for form. We will back him and try setting him some new challenges to get the mind of his own game. Boucher said more than Rahane's batting, it was his team's bowling that hurt them badly. "We had seven frontline batters today, and getting 157 wasn't good enough on that wicket. With that start we probably should have got 180 or 190 and then we could have really judge our bowling and the way Rahane played as well. He played some good cricket shots but I think the bowling hurt us more than Rahane's innings," he said. On the seriousness of Jofra Archer's injury, the MI coach said the pacer might miss a few matches. "He has put up a little niggle. We have a fantastic medical team that are looking after him and he is obviously a massive player for us. Hopefully, they can pass him fit and up for selection soon," he said. Despite Cameron Green's sombre outing in the first two games, Boucher hopes the all-rounder will come good. "He is a fantastic cricketer. Green is best suited to probably bat up the order. He is a strong hitter of the ball. It has been only two innings but i liked the intent he had shown when he went on to bat. With the ball we are looking to use him with the nee ball. He is a very valuable player for us," he said. Sensational catch 🔥🔥@imjadeja grabs a RIPPER off his own bowling! "His dismissal was also unlucky. He played a good shot and it hit Jadeja's hand, I don't think he caught it. Another unfortunate dismissal," he said. On the new "Impact Player" rule, Boucher said it is kind of a substitution. "When you bat first, you try and squeeze in an extra batter and if you bowl first, you put in an extra bowler. It's almost like a substitution," he said.
