In a shocking incident, former Premier League player Shaka Hislop collapsed live on TV while he was talking before the pre-season match between AC Milan and Real Madrid at the California Rose Bowl.

Hislop, who retired in 2007 and works as a broadcaster for ESPN America, was conscious and recovering, said co-host Dan Thomas at half time.

Thomas and Hislop were hosting a pre-match show before the latter suddenly fell face forward onto the ground. Thomas immediately called for assistance as the live feed was cut.

At half time, Thomas would provide an update on his colleague, saying that he was doing fine. “My mate, Shaka, not here, but as it stands, it’s good news. He’s conscious, he’s talking, I think he’s a little embarrassed about it all. He’s apologised profusely. Not a man who likes people to make a fuss of him,” he said.

“Obviously far too early to make any sort of diagnosis, but the important thing is that Shaka’s conscious and we spoke to his family as well, because you imagine seeing that happen live. We spoke to his wife and things are looking OK,” he added.

In the match, AC Milan were defeated by Real Madrid 3-2 after overturning a 2-goal deficit. Federico Valverde scored twice and Vinicius Junior scored the 3rd while Fikayo Tomori and Luca Romero scored for the Italian giants.
